Sonja’s Family Photoshoot / Lucca, Tuscany / Italy
Sonja contacted me when I was in Sweden to see If i’d be in Europe in July, and If I’d be keen to do a shoot at her villa in Lucca, Italy. I jumped at opportunity as it’s always been a dream to visit Italy and do a shoot there. It worked out so well, because I was going to be in Paris to shoot a wedding several days before, so it was just a short flight to Pisa. Lucca is a renaissance-era city and commune in Tuscany, Italy. This charming, quaint city has been around since 180 BC.
I arrived the day before to scout out the area – Sonja’s villa in the mountains, as well as the city. It wasn’t a regular photoshoot, as I stayed for a few days and did some shots every day. Some were taken at the villa, some in town, a few at the beach. A mix of more formal family photos, and then more relaxed ones. Sonja’s mom, Francis has created the most beautiful garden I’ve ever seen. There are bursts of colour everywhere, and mixed with the warm, golden Italian light, it felt like paradise. Here are some of my favourites from my 3 days there. Thank you to Sonja and her lovely family for being so hospitable and making me feel like part of the family.
