Anine Pheiffer | “20 Women, 20 Stories” Women’s Portrait Campaign Experience
Anine Pheiffer
Chartered Accountant

Where are you from, and where have you currently settled?
Cape Town born and raised – thankful to still live in this beautiful city.
3 words that your friends would use to describe you?
Bubbly, kind, sincere.
What is your big, audacious dream? (that sometimes keeps you awake at night) If you are already living it, please share.
As a practising Christian and newly ordained Minister, I aim to live my purpose and display the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in my daily interactions.
Can you share how your journey in your current career began, and what drew you to it?
As a child, I wanted to be a businesswoman, as a teen ,I wanted to pursue Medicine.
I started my university career with a Bachelor’s of Commerce majoring in Industrial Psychology.
Along the way, I was accepted to study Medicine, but in the end, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant – I guess childhood Anine was right after all 😉
We all have different versions of what success means to us. What does success look and feel like to you?
Success to me means being able to look at yourself in the mirror each day and being proud of your actions and way of being.
What does your morning routine involve? Please share how you start your day.
This is an area that’s still in work in progress but commences with prayer and a daily coffee (now decaf)
What is the thing you enjoy doing the most, (not business related and why?)
I thoroughly enjoy spending time with those closest to me – it’s a time to share experiences, catch up on life, and be present.
Is there a woman who stands out for you, who really inspires you?
This can be someone in your close circle, or someone you don’t know personally, for example an author or podcast host, or other.
My late Mom, Margaret Pheiffer (nee Paulse) is truly my inspiration!
I’m still baffled at all she accomplished during her life’s journey – whilst battling serious health concerns and the systemic constraints as a result of Apartheid – she still helped us to reach our dreams too.
What is a personal mantra or quote that motivates you?
My favourite poem is “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost – it encourages one to follow one’s own path.
What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?
My love for music and travel – both have allowed me to meet amazing people, share great experiences, and learn about myself in the process.
What personality characteristic/s do you love about yourself?
My sense of humour, my ability to listen.
What is your greatest strength, and how has it helped you in your journey?
Once I have truly committed to something, I will drive action to ensure a positive conclusion.
What does self-confidence mean to you, and how have you cultivated it?
Being proud of who you are whilst remembering where you have come from, staying true to who you are and your beliefs.
What are you most proud of, in your business and/or personal life?
My academic achievements. They have required discipline, determination, perseverance, and grit.
If you could share a piece of business advice for someone starting out, what would it be?
“Never burn bridges,” I was given this advice when I was a young vacation student at an accounting firm.
You never know where or from whom the next opportunity will come from, so best to treat those you encounter with equal respect.
What is a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
It will all work out in the end.
If you have a website link, please share.

How did you feel being photographed? And what feelings emerged when you saw your portraits for the first time?
I loved the entire experience – Monica and Kirsten ensured the preparation was stress-free.
Monica is truly gifted as a photographer. She captured different aspects of my personality perfectly – it felt like a homecoming – a coming to oneself.
Hair and Makeup: Kirsten Murphy
