Sue, The 40 Over 40 Women’s Portrait Campaign
I have been described by my friends and family as…
Caring, kind, honest, creative, loyal and sensitive
My best qualities are…
I care about the world around me, whether animals or those in need and I love helping and doing charitable work.
I am most proud of…
I’m very proud of my 3 children who are navigating this tricky, scary world we live in.
I’m proud of myself for getting through their younger stages still sane and coping!
Proud of myself for trying new courses and putting myself ‘out there.’
My favourite quotes…
“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
What advice would I give my 20-year-old self…
Stop worrying about what others say or perceive you to be. Be your authentic self. Pursue what makes your heart happy. Don’t be scared to try new hobbies or adventures.
We all experience many lifetimes in this one life. What did you find were the most poignant changes as you entered your 40s?
Accepting that my body will change and that I can’t necessarily do what I could before physically ie running as before without the aches and pains.
Thoughts on aging…
Aging happens and we need to learn to accept it even though this is a daily lesson with new chapters. I would love to do more traveling; there is so much more of the world to see.
I want to reawaken my creative side and fill my ‘soul cup’.
I have known Sue since high school, and she’s one of my closest friends. She is loyal, kind, gentle, and strong-willed, and always there for me in a heartbeat!
She’s by far, one of the most creative women I know…and I’m very excited that she’ll be baking some goodies for The 40 Over 40 exhibition, which is coming up soon!
Sue’s sister Kari was over from the USA, where she’s lived for many years, and they both came in to have some beautiful portraits done on their own, and then individually.
A great way to celebrate Sue’s 50th as well as quality moments of the two sisters together.
