Thokozani, The 40 Over 40 Women’s Portrait Campaign
Thokozani ‘Gogo’, 69
I have been described by my friends and family as…
Strong, firm, and hardworking
My best quality…
I’m a good listener.
I am most proud of…
Raising my family single-handedly.
My favourite quotes…
“The Lord is my shepherd and provider.”
What advice would I give my 20-year-old self…
To be more responsible, to have high hopes, be more confident, and work extra hard.
A story I’d like to share…
I overcame all the problems I encountered in my life by working hard for my family and sending them to school.
My parents helped me a lot when there were still alive, by looking after my family whilst I went back to school.
I managed to train as a nurse and midwife, working for 27 years in government hospitals. One achieves all their wishes by working hard.
Thoughts on aging…
I think it’s the most wonderful gift one can have.
A dream I still have…
Is to one day visit Jerusalem.
It was wonderful to meet Thokozani ‘Gogo’ and spend the day with her, and her family. I feel so privileged to have captured 4 generations in one photo session,
something so special to pass on to the generation to follow.
Thokozani has delivered close to 1000 children in Zimbabwe, and she deserves an honorary medal! An amazing day spent together, and I’m excited that they were part of
The 40 Over 40 Women’s Portrait Campaign. It was all in divine timing!
How lovely.
What an enspiring woman ⚘
