Laura + Alex Family Session – Melkbosstrand
I love the Munro family! I first photographed them about 15 years ago, and have done several family shoots for them over the years!
We met up recently for their session in Melkbosstrand, on the West Coast of Cape Town. It was initially calm, then became windy, but I love the energy and vibrancy this brought to their portraits.
We pretty much had the entire beach to ourselves
They are a tight-knit family and adore each other, and I’m so happy I got to capture the love, energy, and connection between them all.
Planning to have a family session? Here are some tips to help you make the most out of your session:
- Prepare Together: Start by involving everyone in the planning process. Coordinate your outfits to create a cohesive look that reflects your family’s style and personality. Discuss the overall feel you want for the photos, whether it’s casual and relaxed or more formal and posed.
- Choose a Meaningful Location: Consider selecting a location that holds special meaning for your family, and love to spend time together. Being in a familiar and comfortable environment can help everyone feel at ease during the shoot.
- Pick the Right Time: Schedule your photo session at a time when everyone is well-rested and not rushed.
- Keep Expectations Realistic: Focus on capturing genuine moments and emotions that showcase your family’s love and connection. Trust your photographer to guide you and capture the essence of your family beautifully.
- Have Fun Together: During the shoot, embrace the moment and have fun as a family! Enjoy the process of creating memories together.
- Focus on Connection: Interact with each other naturally and cherish the moments of connection during the session. Stay Flexible: Be open to spontaneous moments and go with the flow.
