Bronwyn, David & Isabel’s Family shoot / Kirstenbosch Gardens
So here’s an endearing story. My life seems to be dotted with them…lucky me! I met Bronwyn over 30 years ago when I was in high school, and she was in junior school, and I babysat her a couple of times with my friend Tracey (who was her neighbour). Fast forward to 2019, and Bronwyn contacted me to do a family shoot of her, hubby and their adorable little daughter Isabel! I met up with them at Kirstenbosch Gardens on a quiet Sunday morning for their shoot, and at first, Isabel just stared at me and my camera, not yet convinced she was going to give me a smile. A short while later, I got a few grins, then some cute expressions which grew into smiles.
I picked several areas for their photos, one of my favourites being on The Tree Canopy Walkway, also known as ‘Boomslang Bridge’ (even though I’m actually scared of heights.) This curved steel and timber winding bridge is 12m above ground and 130m long, offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains, the botanical gardens and the Cape Flats area.
We had a fun morning, and after about an hour Isabel started yawning, so we wrapped up and I joined them for coffee at the Kirtstenbosch cafe. While she napped, Bron, her husband David and I had a catch-up. So lovely to reconnect again after all these years and meet their daughter, who is an absolute cherub!
