Natasha Lassen | “20 Women, 20 Stories”

Natasha

3 words that your friends would use to describe you?

Loyal. Kind. Creative.

What is your big, audacious dream? (that sometimes keeps you awake at night) If you are already living it, please share.

Having a very organized house that allows me to have a more relaxed approach to my very busy schedule.

This keeps me awake at night – along with plans for running a super successful business in empowering women through photography.

And of course, being the best mom to my son and partner to my fiance.

Can you share how your journey in your current career began, and what drew you to it?

Along the journey of life, photography came into my life in various ways and forms, but I think I really connected with the magic of it in 2011 when I officially did my first boudoir shoot and my client exclaimed in delight “Is that me?!” when she saw her photos.

That day the woman who walked into my studio all scared and insecure, walked out a completely different person  – feeling confident and empowered in herself.

That’s where my journey with photography really started when I realized the difference I could make with it in a woman’s life.

We all have different versions of what success means to us. What does success look and feel like to you?

Having the flexibility to manage my own time and having the finances to do so.

What does your morning routine involve? Please share how you start your day.

Packing lunchbox and rushing off to get to school on time.

What is the thing you enjoy doing the most, (not business related and why?)

Gardening. Nothing better than being out on a sunny day digging in the garden and then seeing all the plants grow. It’s very grounding to the soul and relaxing to my body.

Especially in todays world where electronics seem to consume most of our time.

Is there a woman who stands out for you, who really inspires you? This can be someone in your close circle, or someone you don’t know personally,

for example, an author or podcast host, or other.

Monica Dart. She successfully reinvented herself 🙂

What is a personal mantra or quote that motivates you?

Won’t know if you don’t try.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?

That would be giving away my secrets.

What personality characteristic/s do you love about yourself?

The ability to see and understand from another person’s point of view.

What is your greatest strength, and how has it helped you in your journey?

Having faith in the journey of life. Knowing that life will always turn out best.

What does self-confidence mean to you, and how have you cultivated it?

To me, self-confidence means to know my value and to be steadfast in knowing my worth.

For me, this was quite a long journey and one that I am still continuously working on – ranging from life experiences to doing several courses to uplift myself.

What are you most proud of, in your business and/or personal life?

Being a mom AND running a business at the same time.

If you could share a piece of business advice for someone starting out, what would it be?

Work on self-worth before you work on pricing.

Then charge your worth and value accordingly from the start.

Stay humble.

What is a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Believe in my worth.

How did you feel being photographed? And what feelings emerged when you saw your portraits for the first time?

Pretty awkward being IN FRONT of the camera as opposed to behind it – now I know what my clients feel like, but Monica made the whole experience super easy.

And she made me feel at ease by directing me into the different poses.

First thought – Oh my word! I’m looking so much older…. but LOVE having these photos to document my journey through life.
