Ronel, 64 – The 50 Over 50 Women’s Portrait Campaign
Ronel, 64
Where are you from, and where do you currently live?
Pretoria, South Africa
If your friends were to describe you, what would they say?
Elegant, wise and compassionate
What is your favourite quote or saying?
“Let go and let God”
And outlook on life?
She said,”I believe in pink.
I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing alot.
I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day, and
I believe in miracles.” Audrey Hepburn
What would you say you are most proud of?
The ability to look back, and understanding that the journey was exceptionally challenging;
yet here I am standing tall, feeling blessed and ready to concur…
so I imagine what I am most proud of, is that I did life with all I had in me,
by helping people find their dream jobs, and crafting an amazing life for themselves and family,
and then the ultimate crown of my everything:
raising two amazing young adults who ar so vastly different, yet fiercely dedicated to contributing to our planet and making every day better than the previous day –
my absolute proudest accomplishment!
What advice would you give your younger self?
To improve my education and to be kinder to myself.
What is a goal or dream you still wish to accomplish?
In my personal life:
I want to become a coach for underprivileged females and start an NPO called the Umbrella Trust/Fund/Association.
I want to make sure that all people have an umbrella to protect them from the sun and rain and sometimes
walking with an umbrella can even provide you with a sense of confidence when you are not feeling in control of your circumstances.
I want to learn to speak French.
In my corporate life, I will be extending my business to the international market
to employ SA’s as we have the skills and ability and I want to increase the number of SA’s employed.
What are your thoughts on ageing?
As I noticed my skin becoming a bit more saggy, I felt incredibly threatened by my younger female
business competitors and gym friends and then I realized that I am more than just a bit of saggy skin
I am a woman who managed to re-start my purpose after my hubby of 34 years passed of cancer and that
the beauty of women is just so much more than only outward appearances.
What did you enjoy most about The 50 Over 50 Women’s Portrait Campaign? And how did the experience leave you feeling?
The interaction with the team (Monica and Donna), learning that I can look pretty amazing in a photo, and of course dressing up.
Oh my word, the confidence I have been feeling since the photo shoot has been just extraordinary as Monica has the absolute technical skill to create magic and the
personality to make an individual feel like she owns her space in this crazy, enchanting world of ours.
I AM NEW! I AM A NEW ME!
I can concur with the world and I am going to !!
2023 has been suberb! Thank you Ronel for being one of the loveliest, kindest, and inspiring people I’ve had in my studio this year!
I had such fun photographing you, and seeing your strength, confidence, warmth, and charm show through in your portraits.
