Magical Jungle-Forest Family Photo Shoot / Constantia

I met my wonderful friend, Helen at a bookclub I was invited to more than 10 years ago. Although our bookclub no longer exists, we have stayed in touch and built up a treasure chest of memories.

When Helen contacted me to do a family shoot for her, I was so happy.  She had chosen an area I’ve never worked in before – a jungle forest in Constantia.  We had the entire area to ourselves, and the soft morning light was beautiful.  Her son Glenn hovers above ‘wee Helen’, and daughter, Megan, so we had quite a few laughs during their shoot.   They are a warm, happy and easy-going family and I loved every moment of their shoot.  When conversation flows and everyone is relaxed, it results in relaxed photos.  Like these!

Some family shoot tips:

  1.  Wear something you feel confident and comfortable in, and avoid logos on clothing, as these can often date.
  2. Eat something healthy before your shoot so you don’t get crabby. Heavy carbs will have you yawning, so limit those.
  3. Arrive with a positive attitude – these photos will be looked back on for years, and you want to remember the amazing experience you had.  (So leave the bad mood or ‘I hate behind photographed attitude” at home!)
  4. Have fun. Hug your family. Love them.  Be present.
